Discrimination in Columbus, OH

I want to thank all the readers in the 94 cities, 24 countries, and 22 states for continuing to visit my site. I ask that you never stay in the following hotels in Columbus, OH because of what happened to my wife last week. The following five hotels are managed by the same group:

Concourse Hotel and Conference Center (614) 237-2515
Hilton Garden Inn, Columbus Airport (614) 231-2869
Hampton Inn, Columbus Airport (614) 235-0717
Comfort Suites, Columbus Airport (614) 237-5847
Baymont Inn & Suites, Columbus Airport (614) 237-3403

I'm not one to cry discrimination. In fact I don't like the whole idea of a discrimination lawsuit. Since I'm a white man, I guess I don't know it because I don't experience it. However, last week my wife flew to Columbus, OH to stay at the Concourse Hotel and experienced racism and sexism first hand.

She was horribly treated by the front desk staff and security. They kept her locked out of the hotel at 12:00 midnight and insisting she walk to the Holiday Inn because they overbooked the hotel she had a confirmed reservation.

We go back and forth between asking for that man's immediate termination and fair compensation. We are not litigious people but can't help but feel their security's reaction was both racist and sexist. I do not believe he would have acted the same if I, a white man, was in the same situation. To lock out, by holding the circular door with a menacing look, a petite Asian woman at midnight in a strange city is unforgivable. However, we do not know this man's personal situation and do not wish to cause him financial harm by asking for them to fire him.

They alluded to provide free nights stay at the hotel for a future visit. Although this does seem fair, we do not expect to be back in Columbus anytime soon. Nor would we ever plan on staying in one of their properties again. In addition to some sort of monetary compensation, we hope that they will retrain all of the front desk personnel. Security staff needs to take sensitivity training to protect future guests.

Please help me in boycotting these properties. The Regional Director of Sales for these Columbus Airport Hotels said in response to our email that compensation was "not a reasonable request" and "your request is beyond what would reasonably be expected in a situation such as this"

I worked for them back in the 90's, and was going to be promoted to restaurant mng until the restaurant mng they had befriended me and put my health status out there to everyone, they are supposed to have a sensitivity program because of this reason when they was sued by myself
