The City of Brotherly Love?

Having lived in or near Philadelphia for most of my life, I always knew it wasn't the safest place in the world, but this website really tells the story.

The Philly Murders Website is dedicated to wrapping visual analytics around the subject of Philadelphia homicides. For the most part, when a citizen gets cut down by gunfire in Philadelphia, all they get is a blurb in the "Briefly" section of the Inquirer. They're going to change that by creating a data and information repository online.

The purpose of that site is to get more information out there about the homicides. They also want to associate pictures and media with the victims, and have their stories told by those who knew them. You can't fix a problem unless you understand it. This site is hopefully a first step towards that understanding.

Addtionally, there is an Interactive 2008 Murder Map.
